The brief

Ayhan Home Textile sells sheers, drapes, blackout and zebra blinds, and curtain rods from several supplier brands by the metre, and offers a sewing service. As the range of products and brands grew, keeping the catalogue current, updating prices and quoting customers quickly became harder. We built an e-catalogue and management system for it. Products are imported in bulk from Excel, each one gets its QR code automatically and its label is printed from the panel, and pleat, zebra and rod price tables are managed on separate screens. On the customer side there is a filterable catalogue, a fabric calculator that works by length, fullness and pleat type, a PDF quote with privacy consent and WhatsApp ordering. The business tracks incoming quotes in the same panel.

Approach

Three decisions that shaped the project.

  1. 01

    Bulk data entry

Product lists are imported from Excel instead of being typed in one by one. Colour options, images and videos are added in the panel, and the catalogue can be exported as a PDF.

  2. 02

A workflow that starts with the label

Each product’s QR code is created with the record and its label printed from the panel, linking the fabric in the shop to its entry in the catalogue.

  3. 03

A light front end, a strong back office

A framework-free catalogue in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript up front; Django 6, PostgreSQL 16 and Docker behind it, live behind Gunicorn and Nginx.
