The brief

Nargilecix is a catalogue site we built for a shop selling hookah sets, tobacco, bowls and accessories. Orders go through WhatsApp, but the real work in this project sits behind the storefront: the shop’s team can change the homepage slider, sections, banners, blog posts and customer reviews from the panel without touching code. Instead of entering products one by one, they upload an Excel file; image links in the file are downloaded to the server and attached to the product. Category and brand pages have their own article fields for search engines. The project is not live at the moment; the screenshots here come from a local install with sample products and brands.

Approach

Three decisions that shaped the project.

  1. 01

    The homepage is content too

    The slider, “why us” cards, brand intro, about block and call-to-action all come from the database. Slides can carry a background video, a badge and a countdown, so a new campaign needs no code change.

  2. 02

    The catalogue grows through Excel

    Products export to .xlsx, get edited and go back in. Rows with a matching slug update the existing product, new ones are added; remote images are downloaded and stored locally, and the panel converts them to WebP in one click.

  3. 03

    Search engines and speed

    Every category and brand can carry a long SEO article next to its meta fields, and the sitemap and structured data are generated automatically. Product and category lists are cached in Redis, and the cache is cleared whenever the panel changes something.
