The brief

Turex Turizm runs many printers of different makes and models across its offices. A printer that stops or runs out of toner interrupts work directly, and checking each device by hand takes time. We built ToneX for that job. It scans the network and finds SNMP-enabled printers on its own, then keeps reading toner levels, page counters and error states. When something critical happens it sends an e-mail or webhook alert, and it prepares a monthly fleet report as a PDF. A Windows desktop client passes data from the local network to the central server, and a web panel shows the whole fleet on one screen with a Turkish interface. For the same team we also wrote a staff ID card app that produces cards in bulk from an Excel list using PDF templates.

Approach

Three decisions that shaped the project.

  1. 01

    A fleet that finds itself

No one has to register printers by hand: the system scans the network and adds SNMP-enabled devices. Status codes from different makes are decoded into one format, so every device reads the same way in the panel.

  2. 02

    Warnings before problems grow

Low toner or a printer error triggers an e-mail or webhook alert. A monthly PDF report brings the fleet’s status and page counters together in one document.

  3. 03

A client on the desktop, Flask at the core

The Windows client that reaches the local network is built with Electron; the central API runs on Python and Flask, stores data in PostgreSQL and ships with Docker. The card app is a single Windows program that needs no installation.

What we delivered

  • Automatic printer discovery by network scan
  • Toner, counter and status tracking over SNMP
  • E-mail and webhook alerts
  • Monthly PDF fleet report
  • Windows desktop client and central web panel
  • Bulk staff ID card printing from an Excel list
  • Single cards with live preview and missing-photo check

Tech stack

  • Python
  • Flask
  • PostgreSQL
  • SNMP
  • Electron
  • Docker

The code and the domain belong entirely to our client.
